2.) Job Briefings
Lots of track work going on. Brief about your GTB's, slows and gangs!
3.) New Rule Books
GCOR, ABTH and SSI. I hear the newest revisions are not in the new rule books that went into effect April 7th.
Try to get them and also keep updated on your General Orders.
4.) Whistle
Testing heavy about this concerning men and equipment on or near the track. MAKE SURE you whistle per
the rules for this. A foreman cannot relieve you of this.

They have up to 72 hours prior to the saturday at midnight closing to balance the pools.
If at any time during that period the pools balance, then no claims are incurred.

1.)Enhanced Safety Training
I attended the enhanced safety training. I personally thought it was very informative and really made me think about my
job as a railroader. The risk's, the hazard's and the general way we go about our career.
I would like to see everyone sign up for this, not just for the time off or the pay, but for yourself!
The class for Kansas City East is held with our facilitator Eric Bunch and I thought he did a great job.
2.)Meeting
We had several guest's this month. Supt. Ft. Madison Paul McVey, Lynn and Mike from Rathman Law firm, Brian Kelly and Jim Nelson.
Once again, our thanks to all of Rathman Law firm for their support and dedication to Division 75!
Did you know that there are alot of card carrying union members in the Missouri Senate?
Please contribute to the PAC fund to help our Union Jobs' cause. See Ted Stauffer.
Please, please ensure that you know who your beneficiaries are on all your funds and policies!
Panama Canal opening wider 2014. Might see some change but nothing major expected.
3.)GALTUL and GALKCK
It seems to be a common occurence that Galesburg trains built in the yard are making it to the main line, out and running
and the dispatcher calls and says you have extra cars in your train. Some of these have been hazmat.
Please document this and leave in Div 75 box for Bill. This is ridiculous!
4.)Track
It's getting rough out there. It's spring! Pay attention to your form A's! Report rough track. By doing so, it could be you or
your brother that benefits from this in the long run. Don't be shy!.
5.)Respect
Be respectful to your fellow employees. Yes, we all have our jokes and such out here, but it really does boil down to
all of us having to work together. Our job is stressful and time consuming enough! Just keep that in the back of your mind.
Sometimes you aren't the only one having a bad day.

1.)Checking Period Rules:
Everyone working east out of Kansas City has an assigned checking period.
Your checking period can be found on the Local Chairman page, (under checking periods).
You must accumulate 4,200 line miles in your assigned checking period before you can lay off miles.
You CAN NOT lay off miles if the next trip will put you "over" on miles.
A deadhead is counted as the full miles regarding the pool you are in.
Board 50: you must have at least 9 and one half round trips in your checking period to lay off miles.
Board 82: you must have at least 7 and one half round trips in your checking period to lay off miles.
2.) Freight Volume:
Manifest business increase of 5%. LA and LB business down 39% from 2009
3.) Roadway Protection Vest's:
Soon every one will have to wear one. More news later
4.) Furloughed Employees:
As of January the count was 3471. Hang in there everyone. We are in a recession!
5.) Tie Gangs:
Kansas City to Chicago = 366,000 ties. 95,000 on Marceline Sub. (East Sibley to Ethel)
Also undercutting 24 miles. Not sure of those details. In any case, every year there is always track work happening.
Meaning, pay attention to your GTB'S and always be aware of workers.
6. )Push Alerts:
Any troubles? Do you have it set up right? Anything crazy going on with this? There has been alot of input and changes
made. Email L.C. with troubles so he can pass your email to the proper people.
7.) RED
You will see this "word" in the future. It is an acronym for "Respect Every Day".
Meaning, be respectful to everyone while on property. For example:
The dispatcher informs you that you will follow a Galesburg train. Instead of crying like a baby, arguing with the DS and
thinking only of yourself, be respectful!
That was just an example, and is in no way a reflection of the professionalism shown with Div. 75 members.
